Milwaukee Business Journal Reveals 44 Best Places To Work Winners For 2016

BROOKFIELD, WI, – Sept. 15, 2016 (MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL) – The Milwaukee Bucks, Marquette University, Mortenson Construction and Aurora Health Care are among the winners of the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2016 Best Places to Work awards.

Other winners include Quarles & Brady LLP, Milwaukee; GMR Marketing, New Berlin; Eppstein Uhen Architects Inc., Milwaukee; and C.G. Schmidt, Milwaukee. In all, 44 southeastern Wisconsin companies are being honored for having the best culture and leadership and where employees feel the most engaged by their jobs and management.

Nearly 160 Milwaukee-area firms were nominated for the awards and the winners were determined based on scores from a survey that employees filled out. Each company that was nominated was ranked according to the 10 core areas of engagement: teamwork, retention, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, manager effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, job satisfaction and benefits.

We are only announcing the names of the winners today. On Oct. 21, we will publish both online and in our weekly edition the scores for all of the winners to let everyone know which companies were the top ranked in each Best Places to Work category.

It is obvious that all of winners take employee satisfaction very seriously.

“Over the past year, we have implemented an employee wellness program that has brought in onsite massage, yoga, lunch and learns and the opportunity for our employees to participate in company-sponsored sports teams,” said Kelly Kauffman, vice president-human resources for the Milwaukee Bucks. “We have also instituted the Milwaukee Bucks VolunDeer program, which provides our employees with up to 16 hours of paid time off to participate in Bucks-sponsored community programs which impact the city of Milwaukee.”

Added Bob Norman, human resources director for Eppstein Uhen Architects Inc.: “This year, the company added a rooftop terrace to the Milwaukee office intended primarily for employee use. The terrace has multiple seating options and amenities, inside and out that provide a place for employees to engage in casual meetings, take a break to play shuffleboard, or meet for lunch.”
