First Business To Hold 10th Annual Economic Forum

Economic Survey Results & Panel Discussion for Dane County Businesses

The results of the annual First Business Economic Forum are complete. First Business Bank, along with the A.C. Nielsen Center for Marketing Research at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Business will release the results of the 2012 First Business Economic Survey of Dane County at the 10th annual First Business Economic Forum scheduled for December 5, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Monona Terrace Convention Center.

This is the only economic survey specific to Dane County. It analyzes common business indicators such as: sales revenue, total-operating costs as a percentage of revenue, ; changes in wages, ; and profitability gathered from CEOs, CFOs, and owners of Dane County businesses. Each year the survey contains a current
event question.

This year’s question asked asked about the effects of: the Eurozone crisis, price of oil, fluctuating consumer confidence, quality of qualified employees, the Wisconsin recall, the Supreme Court upholding of the Affordable Healthcare Act, historic-low interest rates, and the Presidential election.

This is the tenth year the survey has been conducted in Dane County. The forum will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a networking and continental breakfast session, followed at 8:30 a.m. by a presentation by Scott Converse of UW-Madison on the results of the survey. A panel discussion moderated by Wendy Warren Grapentine will follow.

The survey was prepared by Justin T. Hawkins, S. Omar Jobe and Ted Sun of the A.C. Nielsen Center for Marketing Research at the UW-Madison School of Business. The forum is open to the media and to the local business community.
