American Family Children’s Hospital Wins $48,000 At 2013 First Business Invitational For Charity

MADISON, WI, – Sept. 5, 2013 – First Business is pleased to announce the American Family Children’s Hospital as the winner of the 2013 First Business Invitational for Charity. The nonprofit organization will receive a check for $48,000 thanks to local business leaders Mark Bugher of University Research Park and Gary Wolter of MG&E who participated in and won the “winner takes all” First Business Invitational for Charity golf event at Hawks Landing yesterday.

This is the third year of this event, a forum where local business leaders compete for a local charity of their choice. The event was designed with two person teams competing in a best ball format. First Business Bank covers 100 percent of the event costs.

“This event combines two great qualities of business leaders: the competitive spirit and the desire to make a difference,” says Mark Meloy, President and CEO of First Business Bank. After the tournament, profit and non-profit business leaders met at a reception at Hawks Landing while the results were verified.

“We think it is so wonderful that First Business Bank puts on this event annually to benefit the community,” commented Nancy Francisco-Welke, Vice-President Development at American Family Children’s Hospital.

Additional prizes were given out this year, including a check for $1,500 to Porchlight played for by John Leja of LZ Ventures and Dr. Jay Hazen. “This is an extraordinary event,” added Mark Bugher, Director of University Research Park, “On behalf of all the nonprofit charities in the Madison area, we were so proud to sponsor the American Family Children’s Hospital, which is a fantastic cause. Anytime we can make a difference in a kids life, it’s a good thing.” Gary Wolter, President & CEO MG&E, added, “This is a great event and my hats off to First Business Bank for coming up with a creative idea like this to help out
the community.”

This is the second year in a row American Family Children’s Hospital won this event. Last year, the organization won $45,000 thanks to business leaders Teri Bruns of Core BTS and Dave Bruns of Sherman Plaza Inc. In 2011, the winner was the Boys & Girls Club, for the amount of $42,000, thanks to Mike Victorson and Sean LaBorde of M3 Insurance.
