Join Dane County business leaders for a highly anticipated first look at the results of our 2019 First Business Bank Economic Survey. With 17 years of data from local business leaders in Dane County, the First Business Bank Economic Survey reflects local executives’ assessments of 2019 financial performance and their predictions for 2020. Jim Hartlieb, President of First Business Bank, and Nancy Johnshoy, Vice President – Portfolio Manager & Market Strategist of First Business Trust & Investments, will present national and regional economic data showing what business leaders are saying about 2019 and 2020 anticipated sales revenue, profitability, number of employees, wages, unused capacity, and more, and compare those numbers to years past.
A panel discussion with local business leaders focused on the survey results and the economy will follow the presentation.
Jim Hartlieb (presenter)

Jim Hartlieb joined the bank in 2009 as Senior Vice President. Jim has over 20 years of experience in the commercial banking industry, focusing on serving middle-market companies in the Dane County area. He attended the University of Iowa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and was a four-year letter winner in football. Jim has been active in the community, serving on several nonprofit boards including the March of Dimes, Middleton Outreach Ministry (MOM) and the Salvation Army. He has also assisted Easter Seals and Second Harvest Foodbank in their fundraising efforts. He currently serves on the Finance Council of St. Maria Goretti Church and is Vice Chair of the United Way’s Tocqueville Society.

Nancy Johnshoy, CFA (presenter)

Nancy Johnshoy, CFA, has more than 30 years of experience helping clients maximize and protect their wealth. Throughout her career, Nancy has worked primarily with individual clients and non-profit organizations to achieve their investment and planning objectives. She authors the First Business Quarterly Market Review, an in-depth analysis of markets and investments, and regularly presents to audiences about economic insights. Nancy attended Michigan State University and was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1994.
Wendy Warren Grapentine (moderator)

Wendy Warren Grapentine is a former journalist, and current professional presentations and stress management coach.
She spent twelve years anchoring the evening news and reporting medical news at the ABC television affiliate in Madison, WI and five years at the Wisconsin School of Business and the College of Engineering running the Wisconsin Public Utility Institute.
She then blended the two experiences into her own company, Straight to the Point Communications, LLC in 2006 and later added a degree in bodywork, a certificate as a Reiki Master, and extensive energy healing coursework.
Wendy offers training and coaching in Presentation Skills and Stress Management through Mind-Body Awareness.

Corey Chambas has worked in the commercial banking industry for over 30 years, specializing in commercial lending and cash management. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he has also completed several advanced commercial lending programs including those of Darden (University of Virginia) and Kellogg (Northwestern University).
Nate Herbst is CEO of Paradigm. Nate started the company in 1999 as the most innovative software company in the building products industry. An entrepreneur with nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, Nate is responsible for driving the vision of the company and positioning the technology to bring further opportunities to building products companies. Prior to Paradigm, Nate was a lead consultant for Cap Gemini/ Ernst and Young where he worked on innovative projects throughout North America and Europe. Nate has been selected for many prestigious awards, including Madison’s 40 under 40, and is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization. Nate lives in Middleton with his wife Sarah and their four children.
Nancy Spelsberg is the President of BCP Transportation, a certified women-owned, asset-based trucking and warehousing company located in Deerfield, Wis. BCP Transportation has a strong reputation in the trucking industry for its rapid growth, customer partnerships, and an employee-centric focus. Nancy and her team also launched BCP Truck Services, a full-service diesel, heavy truck, and trailer maintenance shop, and BCP Leasing, an equipment leasing company. BCP has been recognized by Madison Magazine and the Dane County Small Business as one of the best places to work.

Mike Victorson is President and Chief Executive Officer of M3 Insurance. After joining the company in 1992, Mike advanced quickly from account executive to sales manager, after which he became Executive Vice President of the employee benefits division. Mike became M3’s President in 2003 and CEO in 2005. Mike currently serves on the boards of M3 Insurance, and the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB).
Mike's community service has included serving on boards of several non-profit organizations over the years. He currently serves as a board member for the United Way, Greater Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, Oregon Community Bank, the 2:47 Network, and the Wisconsin Manufacturers Commerce Foundation Board.

Jay Loewi is Owner of The QTI Group. Jay has thirty plus years of business experience as an entrepreneur, strategic leader and general business advisor. Prior to his leadership position in the QTI Group, he led the operations of a local food products company and served a leading financial role with a major bank. In 2004 he was featured as a member of the In Business inaugural Executive Hall of Fame. He has served on numerous boards including Madison Development Corporation, Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Dane County, Camp Manitowish YMCA and Southern Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, to name just a few.
