Biography

W. Kent Lorenz retired as Chairman and CEO of Acieta LLC in April of 2017. Acieta is a provider of advanced industrial robotic automation systems to North American manufacturers and their global affiliates. With facilities in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Pewaukee, Wisconsin Acieta specializes in robotic solutions in Material Handling, Assembly, Arc Welding, and Foundry applications with over 4,400 industrial robots installed in North America.

A 1984 December graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Engineering Mechanics, Kent was a 3-Year Varsity Letterman on the Men’s Gymnastics Team. After graduation, Kent joined Ellison Machinery as a Sales Engineer in the Milwaukee Office in 1985 and in 1988 started the robotics business as a division of the office.

In 1998 Kent became a partner in Ellison and was promoted to President of the Wisconsin operation. In 2006 Kent was promoted to Regional President and was named to the Executive Committee as well as the Board of Directors of Ellison Technologies. In 2014, Ellison’s revenues exceeded $600 million with 650 employees.

In April of 2014, Kent led a team to spin off Ellison’s two Robotic Automation companies to create a new stand-alone company called Acieta LLC. Acieta’s FY 2017 sales were approximately $40M with more than 130 employees designing, manufacturing, and integrating over 150 industrial robotic systems a year.

Kent was appointed by Governor Scott Walker in 2015 to serve on the Wisconsin Technical College System Board of Directors. Along with his consulting work, Kent also serves on the Board of Directors for First Business Bank, Essentials Industries, DKR Investors LLC, 5730 Investments LLC, The Western Lakes Fire Department, and is an advisor to two startup companies C-Motive Technologies and Veital Designs, Inc.

In the local community, Kent serves on the Advisory Board for Pewaukee High School’s “Project Lead the Way” program and has served on the United Way of Waukesha and Milwaukee’s Cabinet Committee. He is the past Chairman and current member of the Manufacturing Executive Committee for the Waukesha County Business Alliance.
