Check Out the New Event Supporting Nonprofits in Milwaukee

Written by Kim Preston, Vice President - Treasury Management

Wisconsin is an extremely passionate and giving state. Did you know that more than 35% of Wisconsin residents volunteer? That puts us fifth among all 50 states and Washington, D.C. by percentage of residents who volunteer. We also give more than $2.7 billion annually to charitable causes.

It’s not just volunteering and donations, however. Nonprofit organizations are a key economic driver here, contributing to our state’s bottom line in significant ways.

  • Nonprofits employ more than 12% of Wisconsin’s workforce
  • They generate more than $49 billion in annual revenue
  • Nonprofits hold assets of almost $91 billion

I’m so proud to work for a company that encourages its employees to get involved in a meaningful way on the boards of nonprofit organizations. The encouragement and support I’ve received has allowed me to find my role in the community. I believe a strong community is built by the efforts of many working collaboratively to meet a common goal, which ultimately benefits all.

If I’m being honest, there are several companies out there supportive of their employees’ volunteer work. However, First Business goes a step further by organizing and underwriting Enterprising NONPROFITS, a forum and event designed to provide opportunities for nonprofits and for profit business leaders to network, collaborate, and share best practices with each other.

Paul Wesselmann, our keynote speaker for the Milwaukee event, is a dynamic guy who’ll get you thinking about things a bit differently. Our breakout session speakers bring a wealth of knowledge and practical applications, whether you’re a volunteer, a board member, or a nonprofit staff member.

I’m extremely proud of how people connect at Enterprising NONPROFITS, and take relevant information and those important connections to strengthen our vital nonprofits. I look forward to sharing a day of both personal and professional development with you. Make sure to reserve your spot at the Milwaukee Enterprising NONPROFITS event — you won’t want to miss it.
